2009 Scholarship Recipients

The Scholarship Committee of the RDGA concluded its interviews of the 31 applicants on August 3, 2009. A total of ten scholarships worth $2,000 each were awarded for the 2009-2010 academic year.

The RDGA increased the value of the individual scholarships from $1,000 to $2,000 beginning with the 2009-2010 academic year. Since the Scholarship Program began in the early 1980's, the RDGA has aided more than 200 young men and women with assistance totaling more than $175,000

Nine of the recipients selected were given awards for the first time while one award was given to a previous recipient. Recipients are limited to a maximum of two awards if selected and must re-apply each year.

The applicant pool was extremely talented and well qualified. They clearly represented high academic achievement, school and community involvement, strong communication skills, leadership and personal qualities that made the selection process difficult.

A special thanks to the Selection Committee who carefully reviewed each application and conducted interviews of all 31 applicants over five days. The committee included Jim Cook, Larry Faulkner, John Fox, Jim Holihan, Bill Thaney Sr., and Richard Wood.

The RDGA salutes all the applicants for their high level of achievement and significant contributions to their communities, schools, and families. A list of the 2009-2010 Scholarship Recipients and their College/University follows:
