The 18th Hole at Stafford Country Club, host for this week’s RDGA District Championships.
After the conclusion of the first round of play in the 2014 RDGA District Championship John H. Ryan Memorial at Stafford Country Club, the leader is Oak Hill’s Conor Talty – who had the low round of the morning session with a 3-under 69 – followed by fellow Oak Hill member Trevor Sluman, who posted the low round of the afternoon, a 2-under 70. Five players are tied for third place at 1-under 71, including Stafford’s own Jim Scorse, a four-time winner of the Championship.
The most dramatic round of the day came in the afternoon session, when Oak Hill’s Michael Lane went out with 5 birdies on the first nine (starting on hole No. 10) to briefly take the lead, before falling back to the rest of the field with three bogies and two double bogies on the second nine to finish the day with a 2-over-par 74.
Conditions were calm and damp in the morning, with gusty winds picking up this afternoon. The forecast is calling for dry, sunny conditions throughout the rest of the week.
Round 2 began Thursday morning at 7:30 a.m. with morning and afternoon rounds. Following the completion of Round 2, the field will be cut to the low 40 players plus ties for the final two rounds on Friday and Saturday.
