2015 RDGA Schedule Concludes With Mid Handicap Tournament at Penfield CC

On October 5, a field of 80 golfers competed in the the final RDGA tournament of the 2015 season – the Mid Handicap at Penfield Country Club – then enjoyed an h’ors d’ouvres buffet afterwards as scores were posted.
 
A beautiful Autumn day greeted golfers on Monday, October 5 as Penfield Country Club hosted the final event on the 2015 Rochester District Golf Association tournament schedule – the RDGA Mid-Handicap Tournament. A field of 80 golfers enjoyed the perfect conditions on the par-71 Pete Craig-designed course that first opened in 1959.
 
The Mid Handicap format was open to RDGA members age 18 and over with an official USGA/RDGA handicap index of 10.0 or higher and included competition in Net (handicap) and Gross Score Divisions for both Men’s and Women’s flights.
 
In the Men’s Division – playing from the 5,836-yard Gold Tees – James Lanzillo of Durand Eastman Golf Club finished with a handicap-adjusted score of 8-under-par 63 to win the Men’s Net Division, while Robert Natale of Genesee Valley Golf Club posted a raw score of 78 to win the Men’s Gross Score Division.
 
In the Women’s competition – playing from the 5,510-yard Red Tees – Melissa Kidd of Ravenwood Golf Club posted a handicap-adjusted score of 9-under-par 63 to win the Women’s Net Division, while Lorra Boher of Salmon Creek Country Club finished with an 89 to win the Women’s Gross Score Division.

Following play, the contestants were treated to a delicious h’ors d’ouvres buffet prepared by the Penfield kitchen staff, putting the final touches to a perfect day of golf – as well as another successful RDGA tournament season.
