Members of the local community who attended the RDGA’s Rochester Golf Day 2016 at the Doug Miller Family Sports Park, above, had many activities from which to choose, including hitting a bucket of range balls at the Park’s indoor practice range.

The Rochester District Golf Association welcomed members of the local community to this year’s second annual Rochester Golf Day, presented by the RDGA, on Saturday, March 12 at the Doug Miller Family Sports Park – as well as the many RDGA Member golf clubs, businesses and charities who participated in the event as exhibitors.

As part of the day’s activities – which included a free bucket of range balls for the indoor practice area – attendees learned about events on the 2016 RDGA tournament schedule; how to get an official USGA Handicap through the RDGA; and entered a grand prize free raffle, as well as several smaller raffles for which tickets could be purchased (with proceeds going towards junior golf programs supported by the RDGA Foundation, Inc.).

Speaking of the Foundation, one of those junior golf programs it supports includes the new ForeSight Junior Golf Program, which was officially unveiled during Rochester Golf Day 2016. A groundbreaking new program designed to introduce the game of golf to area middle and high school students through their physical education classes and school golf teams, ForeSight is a cooperative effort between the Foundation, the RDGA, the Monroe County Parks Golf Courses, Kless-Myers Golf Management and physical education teachers and golf coaches from local Section V school districts.
