The fifth annual RDGA Women’s Open was hosted by Ridgemont Country Club on Monday, September 17, as Women’s Golf in Rochester was celebrated under perfect late summer conditions.

The 18-hole stroke play competition included women golfers of all ability levels in a fun-filled day that included a buffet dinner and awards ceremony following play.

The format for the 2018 Women’s Open included overall competition in gross score and net score divisions, as well as six separate flights based on handicaps.

Winning the overall scratch Women’s Open title for 2018 was Kitty Colliflower from Oak Hill Country Club, who posted a raw score of 7-over-par 79.

Colliflower finished one shot ahead of Jenny Ford of Irondequoit Country Club, who posted an 80. Last year’s RDGA Women’s Player of the Year, Deb Wood finished third overall with a score of 82.

As the low gross score finisher, Colliflower will receive the Low Gross Women’s Open championship trophy – which can be displayed at her home club for the next year.

As the overall champions, Colliflower and Roberts were each presented with the Women’s Open championship trophies, as well as customized golf bags from RDGA Corporate Partner Izzo Golf. Izzo will embroider each bag with the name or personal inscription of the individual winner.

The only event of its kind in Rochester, this year’s field included 89 women representing many of the Rochester area’s local private, semi-private and public golf clubs and organizations.

Past venues for this event have included Irondequoit Country Club, Penfield Country Club and Brook-Lea Country Club.

Thanks to all who supported this year’s RDGA Women’s Open, including: Ridgemont Country Club’s owner Jim Cuccinelli and PGA Professional Andrew Smith and their staffs, as well as the club’s membership for their hospitality in making this year’s event a success!

Following play, contestants in the 2018 RDGA Women’s Open enjoyed a roast chicken and sirloin dinner prepared by the Ridgemont clubhouse staff, followed by a ceremony honoring long-time local golf instructor Dianne Wilde with the inaugural RDGA Leading The Way Award.
