Last month, a team of eight local golfers traveled to Horseshoe Bay, Texas to participate in the 2018 LPGA Amateurs Cup Matches. Although the team did not return to Rochester with the national title, they did finish with an impressive third place showing in a field that included 50 teams.

The local team – which called itself “Rochester Flower Power” – represented the Rochester Chapter of the LPGA Amateur Golf Association, formerly known as the Executive Women’s Golf Association.

Competing for the Rochester team were Co-captains Lilian Chang and Sheree Usiatynski, along with Sherre Albright, Luanna Andrews, Anne Levitt, Karen Lejman, Terri Drawe, and Colleen Roche. The team qualified for the national finals by finishing in sixth place in the LPGA Amateurs Cup Regional Qualifier on September 30, which was hosted by the Turning Stone Resort in Utica.

In a display of team – and Rochester – unity, the Rochester Flower Power golfers all wore the same pink shirts they received when they volunteered in July at the Danielle Downey Symetra Tour tournament at Brook-Lea Country Club. Since the Symetra Tour is part of the same LPGA organization as the LPGA Amateurs Golf Association, of which these ladies belong, team members decided to show their support by wearing these shirts at the LPGA Amateurs Match Cup Finals.
