Danielle Downey Classic Returning to Brook-Lea Country Club on July 15-21

 

Did you know that some of golf’s most talented female golfers make their way through Rochester each summer? Over the past four years, the Danielle Downey Credit Union Classic has hosted numerous talented professional golfers and some of our past participants include:

• Nelly Korda (2016) who recently won the ISPS Honda Women’s Australian Open and is currently 6th on the LPGA Rolex Money List. Last week, she surpassed Lexi Thompson as the highest ranked American on the LPGA.
• Brooke Henderson (2015) who has 7 LPGA wins, including a major at the 2016 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, and is currently 11th on the LPGA Rolex Money List.
• Madelene Sagstrom (2016) who competed in the 2017 Solheim Cup for Europe and recorded 4 top-10 finishes on the LPGA after setting the record of highest winnings in one season on the Symetra Tour.

Since it’s inauguration in 2015, 16 of the LPGA’s current top 90 money winners have come through Rochester and played in the event at Brook-Lea Country Club, keeping the history of women’s professional golf thriving in Rochester.

 

But the Danielle Downey Credit Union Classic is more than just an exciting tournament stop of the LPGA’s up-and-coming talent – NEW this year is the nine-hole “Celebrity Scramble” on Tuesday, July 16! This special event, sponsored by AdPro Sports, is being held in conjunction with the 5th Annual Danielle Downey Credit Union Classic and will feature Buffalo Bills Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly, Syracuse University men’s basketball coach Jim Boeheim, Greece native and former NHL great Brian Gionta and Elvio Fernandes – keyboardist, rhythm guitarist and vocalist for multi-platinum Grammy nominated band Daughtry.

 

Join us in welcoming these celebrities and talented Symetra Tour players – and the awe they inspire in our young golfers – as the Flower City hosts this year’s tournament at Brook-Lea Country Club on July 15 – 21.
