Almost half a year had passed since Pittsford native Dominic Bozzelli stepped inside the ropes at a PGA Tour event, following an untimely shoulder injury that cut short his impressive rookie season at the Canadian Open in late July. At the time, Bozzelli made the tough decision to forgo the final portion of the 2017 PGA schedule in order to rehabilitate his injury – then work towards his eventual return to the Tour for the 2017-18 season.
Bozzelli, who finished the 2016-17 PGA Tour season 113th on the money list as the brand ambassador for Victor’s Power Management – a proud Corporate Partner of the RDGA – returned in impressive fashion in early January, making the cut at the Sony Open in Honolulu, Hawaii on January 11-14.
Bozzelli toured the beautiful Waialae Country Club in 8-under-par that week, making his first 36-hole cut since last July’s John Deere Classic in Illinois. Following an opening-round of even-par 70, Bozzelli finished up with two rounds of 67 and a 68 on Sunday to claim a share of 39th place overall, tied with Keegan Bradley, Ryan Armour and five others.
In late January, Bozzelli followed the Tour to Palm Springs, California for the CareerBuilder Challenge – an event where he posted one of his two top-5 finishes of the 2017 season. Unfortunately, his return to the same PGA West complex where he posted an opening-round 64 a year ago did not yield similar results this year – including a third-round 83 that derailed an opportunity to make his second cut of the young season.
This week, Bozzelli is back in action, playing in the PGA Tour’s Genesis Open – and YOU can follow his progress hole-by-hole as he tours the famed Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles, thanks to the Bozzelli Tour Tracker, presented by Power Management and the RDGA! Just look for the orange “Bozzelli Tour Tracker” box (as seen on the right) on the RDGA website and newsletters and click to open Bozzelli’s PGA Tour profile page.
