Serving as a volunteer RDGA Rules Official requires detailed knowledge of the Rules of Golf, along with extensive testing and training. It is a vital position for our RDGA tournaments and we are always interested in finding and developing new Rules team members.
Anyone interested in potentially becoming a Rules Official will first be given ride-along assignments with a veteran RDGA Rules Official to show what the position is like. Personal training will follow if the volunteer candidate wishes to learn – however, self-training and study of the Rules of Golf are also important traits of a successful Rules Official. Additional training at USGA Rules Workshops are provided to qualified Rules team members with exceptional interest.
Once qualified, Rules officials may select their own schedules based on the RDGA tournament schedule, choosing to work whole-day or half-day shifts.
