Syracuse Juniors, Rochester Sub Juniors, Claim Interdistrict Junior Titles at Geneva

 

On Friday, August 21, Geneva Country Club hosted the annual Interdistrict Junior Championship – a competition that features teams of Junior boys (ages 15 to 17) and Sub Junior boys (ages 12 to 14) from the Syracuse, Rochester and Buffalo District Golf Associations.

 

In an 18-hole stroke play competition, the low five of six scores in the Junior competition and the low four of five scores in the Sub Junior competition counted towards each team’s total score. The low individual medalist in each of the Junior and Sub junior divisions were also recognized. For the second consecutive year, the Syracuse Junior team and the Rochester Sub junior Team claimed titles in the competition.

 

Winning the Junior Division title was the team from the Syracuse District. Contributing to the team victory were Jeremy Sisson, with a score of 70; Sean Stanistreet, with a score of 71; Jon Petrin, with a score of 74; Danny Lapp, with a round of 76; and Matt Monaco (76). The team total of 367 was better than Rochester (383) and Buffalo (391). Also playing for the Syracuse Junior squad was Kyle Reader (79).

Winning the Sub-Junior Division title was the team from the RDGA, including: Jason Lohwater, with a score of 80; Alex Zurat, with a score of 83; Tyler Buddendeck, with a score of 83; and David Eichas, with a score of 83. Also playing for the RDGA Sub Juniors was Tyler McDonnell (87) and Jack Bailey (90). Rochester’s team total of 329 was better than Buffalo (339) and Syracuse (342).

In the individual competition, Syracuse’s Jeremy Sisson was the Junior Division medalist, with a 1-under-par 70. Syracuse’s Sean Stanistreet was the runner-up with a even-par 71. In the Sub-Junior Division, Rochester’s Jason Lohwater was the medalist with a 9-over-par 80. Ian Rivers of Syracuse and Nolan Codd of Buffalo tied for second place, each with scores of 81.
