Teams Enjoy 2018 RDGA Women’s Four Person Scramble at Mendon Golf Club

Winning teams from the 2018 RDGA Women’s Four Person Team Scramble on Sunday, June 10 included: the Low Net Score champions (left photo): Luanna Andrews, Janice Schillaci, Anne Levitt and Colleen O’Mara; and the Low Gross Score Champions (right photo): Joan Leroy, Joy Florczak, Sue Yarnall and Maggie Kril. Mendon Golf Club played host to the annual Rochester District Golf Association Women‘s Four Person Handicapped Team Scramble on Sunday, June 10.
 

A field of 56 golfers, competing in 14 four-person teams, participated in the event, with the teams posting the top net score and top gross score earning first-place honors. Teams competed in flights based on a single team handicap formulated from the individual USGA Handicap Index of each member of a team.

 
The overall net score winning team of Luanna Andrews, Janice Schillaci, Anne Levitt and Colleen O’Mara posted a winning score of 58.
 
The overall gross score winning team of Joy Florczak, Maggie Kril, Sue Yarnall and Joan Leroy finished with a 68.
 
The format for the 2018 Women’s Four Person Team Scramble included competition over 18 holes of stroke play. Teams consisted of four women RDGA members and came from the same or  different clubs and included all levels of players. Each team was required to use each player’s drive three times. Team handicaps were computed using the standard USGA method.
 
In addition to the overall team finishers, winning teams were also recognized in two separate handicapped flights.
 
In Flight 1, the Low Net Score winning team was Deb Wood, Cheryl Ferguson, Diane Abel and Vicki Brawn, who posted a net result of 71-10=61. The Low Gross Score team in Flight 1 was Florczak, Kril, Yarnall and Leroy, with their score of 68.
   
A total of 56 players in 14 four-player teams enjoyed perfect weather at the
2018 RDGA Women’s Team Scramble at Mendon on June 10.

Following play, participants enjoyed a dinner with serving stations of salads,
pasta and chicken in the Mendon Golf Club dining room.
   
In Flight 2, the Low Net Score winning team was Andrews, Schillaci, Levitt and O’Mara with their handicap-adjusted score of 75-17=58. The Low Gross Score in Flight 2 went to the team of Michele Romano, Shari Morley, Lisa Mulvaney and Debbie Harper, with a score of 73.
 
The only event of its kind on the RDGA Tournament Schedule, the Women’s Four Person Team Scramble is now in its third year.

Past venues for this event have included CenterPointe Country Club and Reservoir Creek Golf Club.
