Weather-Delayed Scramble Opens the 2017 RDGA Season
Following a cold, wet spring – and a week’s postponement due to the inclement weather – the 2017 Rochester District Golf Association Tournament Schedule finally got underway at Mill Creek Golf Club on Saturday, May 13, with the RDGA Two Person Scramble.
A field of 92 golfers – 46 two-player teams – competed in the event, in which team members played from the best result of both shots, until holed out on each hole.
The competition featured four flights in the Men’s Championship Division (Blue Tees), two flights in the Men’s White Tee Division and a Women’s Division (which featured net and gross score winners). The overall winning team in the Championship Division – Jacob Reimer and John Barry – won a tiebreaker with two other teams that also finished tied for first at 7-under-par 64. Reimer and Barry, as well as the teams of Mike Rogers & Andrew Dailey and Mike Lacagnina & Pete Stollery, also earned spots in the RDGA District Championship at Locust Hill Country Club on July 15-18.
The overall winning team in the Women’s Gross Score Division was Suzanne Yarnall and Joan Leroy with a 1-over-par 72 total. Both Yarnall and Leroy earned automatic exemptions into the 2017 RDGA Women’s Championship at Locust Hill.

Four Ball Sends Four to 2017 District Championships
One week after the RDGA Two Person Scramble opened the 2017 RDGA Tournament Schedule, the RDGA’s other two person team event – the Two Person Four Ball – was hosted by Wayne Hills Country Club on Saturday, May 20.
A field of 80 golfers – 40 two-player teams – competed in the Two-Person Four Ball, with each member of each team playing their own ball and the team score counting the best of the two scores per team on each hole.
The competition featured four flights in the Men’s Division, three playing from the Blue Tees (6,786 yards), one from the Black Tees (5,587) and one flight in the Women’s Division (5,100 yards), which featured net and gross score winners.
The overall winning team in the Men’s Division playing from the Blue Tees (Tim Saur and Brad McAreavy) and the top gross score team in the Women’s Division (Sharon White and Ronnie Levine-Ribble) also earned spots in the 2017 RDGA District Championship at Locust Hill Country Club in July.
